Fitness can either be a personal battle or a little sanctuary of you time in your life. I’ve always been someone who loves staying active and on the go but it’s taken time to make fitness and healthy eating totally routine.
One of the best decisions I made when we moved to Austin was joining a barre studio. I’ve been going for 4.5 years! Before, I didn’t feel it necessary to pay money to work out and preferred running but I’ve found that paying gives me more motivation to go, and I will power through the exhaustion and soreness for a good sweat! I also love the social aspect of seeing friends and working out in a group. Now it’s just something I do every week because it makes me feel strong and happy.
One of the many things that can be tough postpartum is feeling that urgency to get back to your prior self and feeling like you have little control. Nursing McKenna has made me hungrier than ever and tougher to cut back on certain foods. Plus I was so limited in what I could consume during my pregnancy, that I want to eat and drink everything now because I can! But now that summer is here, I feel more determined to get back into shape.
Here is my weekly fitness goal:
– Run 2x a week
– Barre 2x a week
– Walk 2x week (even if it’s a walk around the block with the dogs! Just need to move!)
Here is my weekly meal goal:
-5 x homecooked dinners (usually this is Mon-Thurs & Sunday)
– Make 4 of those dinners paleo (I’ll be sharing more recipes!)
-Cut dairy from diet (with exception of eating at restaurants!)
I have 5 lbs to lose to get to my pre-baby weight and 5 more to get to my goal weight! I want to do this in a way where I can enjoy the process and still have fun drinking wine and eating sushi and doing the things I couldn’t really do much of during pregnancy!
SHOP THE POST:
I know these photos aren’t really selling these clothes #badblogger, but I did want to tell you a little bit about a few favorite work out brands. I just discovered Zella at Nordstrom and absolutely love this tank that comes in several colors! Breathable, awesome fabric that won’t get destroyed with a few washes, and $29! Also, my sister is a marathon runner and last summer I was in the market for new shorts and she totally sold me on both Athleta and Oiselle! They are such a step up from the Target shorts I was wearing previously (sorry Target). So comfortable, I wear them daily! I live in work out clothes in the summer so stocking up on good quality brands is a MUST. I’m in the market for sports bras right now so if you have some you can’t live without, please share :)
