Hello there! I miss writing. And I have a lot of thoughts. So here we go with another coffee read!
Spring is in full bloom over here and the sunshine and kelly green hues of all the budding trees and plants is giving me life right now. I don’t even mind the crisp temperatures because it feels like the world is beginning again and it fills me.
I have had two back to back wonderful trips these past few weeks! I had a girls weekend away in Napa Valley and getting some adult time with my girlfriends tasting delicious wines was pretty spectacular. Even if it was 45 degrees and rainy in California. We had a blast!
Then last weekend we flew our family up to Colorado to see my parents and siblings and our sweet cousins. We were able to leave our little boys with my parents so we could ski with the big kids and it was awesome. We happened to have a few friends out in Steamboat at the same time so it made it extra special to have ski buddies for us and our kids.
Now we’re home for the remainder of the school year until summer travels pick up. I’m excited to have lots of weekends and time in our new home! We have a few visitors in the queue and I’m just happy to enjoy this beautiful season in Austin.
So how many of you listen to podcasts? I’m a podcast newbie. I now spend 80 minutes driving my 2 year old around to appts on Tuesdays and with longer drives, I decided I’m a little sick of my music. So I’ve tuned into a few podcasts that have really resonated with me.
A friend recommended I listen to Dr. Becky from Good Inside and man, it’s totally parenting therapy. I feel seen. And really empowered. My favorite episode is when she chatted with Caitlin Murray from Big Time Adulting. And if you don’t follow Caitlin on Instagram, you must. She is truly the funniest person on the internet. She takes such a wonderful approach and attitude to parenting that will make you giggle pretty loud. Anyway, Dr. Becky Kennedy is a clinical psychologist with all sorts of strategies to implement with all sets of circumstances and I love having actionable plans. So I highly recommend if you’re going through any kind of struggle with your child. She seems to have a podcast episode for everything.
What are your thoughts on Supergreens and/or supplements? A nutritionist recommend this specific brand to us and while it’s quite pricey, we have been investing a lot in our health lately and it seems worth it! I have a scoop added to one of my waters every day and its filled with all sorts of nutritional goodness. I’d love to know if you’ve tried it.
We recently took bluebonnet photos which is one of my favorite traditions. I dress my kids up and stick them in the flowers and bribe them with chocolate to smile. I’ll whisper “spaghetti hair” or “fart” or “poopy butt” and the kids can’t help but giggle. I know I know. [potty talk] But it works… Anyway, we took photos over at Mayfield Park at 6:30pm last week. You really need that late- in-the-day time frame or early morning to get the perfect light. Over the years I have also taken them at Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center. Or this year for Will, in the parking lot of Saint John Nuemann Catholic Church. Ha!
I just created a Shop My page so you can see some of my favorite things I’ve found on the internet. It’s an easy way to access links without having to download an app! I’ll do my best to continually update it! (thank you for shopping my links!)
Who has been into Homegoods lately and seen their elves? Do you love them as much as I do? I was hooked as soon as I saw a Valentine’s themed one and then couldn’t help but purchase one for Saint Patrick’s Day and two for Easter. Maybe it’s because I’m festive. I hope they keep them coming with all the holidays!
I’ve been reading a lot of beach reads lately. Abby Jimenez and Emily Henry, specifically. They are easy reads and they spark joy. But I am looking for some more thought provoking reads if you have any ideas! I think I may read Tuesdays with Morrie again…
I haven’t painted any ornaments in a while but I am ready! I know it’s not typically the time of year you think of your Christmas tree, but if you’ve got someone in mind that would love a dog ornament, or maybe could use a little pick-me-up, I’m all ears! I just painted these three ornaments in loving memory of my brother in-law’s father. I’m trying out new things but I still specialize in animal drawings. My goal is to paint some more houses this year!
And here are a few outfit pieces inspiring me lately! Neutrals, denims, and rompers: I’m feelin’ them.
That’s all I’ve got. Thanks for reading!
