This is a pretty straightforward project but I thought I’d share pictures and links for inspiration. I’m a sucker for a project/toy that will entertain my kids for minutes on end while also stimulating their creativity. Since they are so into dinosaurs these days, I thought I’d craft my own backyard kit.
I’ve purchased many sensory kits before but the issue I’ve found (for us personally) is that my kids still like to put stuff in their mouths (even thought they aren’t toddlers!!). It drives me crazy. So I wanted something simple without small parts that is easy to clean up. This kinetic sand is my favorite because it blends in with the backyard and is easier to pick up than other colored kinetic sand.
I purchased my dinosaurs and palm trees from Michaels! And I threw them in a bin I purchased for my art supplies and voila, we have a little sensory kit.
Whether it’s miniature toy trucks, little mermaids, gnomes, or dinosaurs, these bins are so easy to create and are a great tool to ignite that imagination and encourage that sensory play!
