Wow. Summer. Does anyone else feel like time is passing faster than it ever has? I can’t believe we are on the cusp of July. Between house renovations, family weddings, and travel, we’ve been kind of running around with our heads cut off. I’m going to soak up this last week of “summer school” before we head out on another family adventure! It’s one that I’ve been looking forward to since we booked it in January. My FAVORITE place! Any guesses as to where that is?
I’ve been in an interesting head space lately. On one hand, I’m so totally immersed in mom life and enjoying quiet afternoons on the floor with my kiddos. There are moments when my heart just feels like it’s going to explode with love. But I’ve simultaneously dealt with an exasperating transition where my kids are testing all news boundaries and pushing me past my patience limits. I had a moment last week where I was sobbing in my car and today I feel on top of the world! It’s funny how that goes. I’m just trying to keep one foot in front of the other, take deep breaths, and stay consistent!
I wanted to share a few things so let’s get to it!
- I just got a portrait of Jack back from Caroline Chriss and she painted ones of the other two kids and she is fantastic. If you’re looking for a special gift for someone or for portraits of your own children, I highly recommend her work!
2. I’ve read a few great books lately. All different genres. I wish we could give books ratings out of 10 stars instead of 5, because it would be much easier to give an accurate recommendation. Do you agree? I only give 5 stars to books I would read again but there are TONS I loved but are too heavy or thought provoking or whatever to read a second time. Anyway, here are a few books to add to your reading list: Heart Bones by Colleen Hoover (probably more geared towards teenagers and twenty-somethings). The Good Sister (fabulous thriller). The Tattooist of Auschwitz (heavy but very good). And I’m currently reading The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah which I also love.
3. If you haven’t read my blog post on How I Make My Baby Books, you should. It’s a good one! I’m currently working on organizing my photos so I can be better prepared to make my 2022 yearbook. I email myself all the photos I enjoyed from the month and then store them in a folder on my desktop and upload to Shutterfly and start the layout! It may sound crazy but I LOVE my yearbooks and I am trying to make it a smaller project by tackling some of it now.
4. I just ordered this dress and this hat for vacation and I’m very excited!
5. Have any of you started Stranger Things Season 4? We are hooked right now!
6. I’ve been blogging a little less lately and focusing on other creative outlets. Here’s why.
7. I shared a bit about this on IG stories a week or so ago but in case you’re late to the game like I was, the Bogg bag is the BEST for your wet gear in summer. You can hose it off and it stores SO much. It’s been my best friend for pool days and splash pad dates.
8. We are awaiting our prints from our portrait session with Candid Chic. If you’re not familiar, they provide heirloom pieces with beautiful vignettes of your children. If you live in Texas, I highly recommend reaching out for dates for future portrait sessions!
9. I’m currently working on re-branding myself to encompass the evolution of this blog, so stay tuned!
That’s it for me today. More painting to do :) XO
