There’s something about baking this time of year that is extra special. In fact, I’m not sure I bake cookies any other time. But in December, we do them weekly if not twice to three times weekly ;) This year I wanted to branch out from our typical sugar cookie and make something equally as festive. I googled ideas and the reindeer cookies popped up and I thought they were SO cute. You can make them with any of your favorite chocolate cookie recipes but I chose this one from Cafe Delights.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 stick melted butter
1/2 cup cocoa powder
3 tbs vegetable oil
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 1/3 cup flour
Pretzels
Red and brown m&ms
Black icing and white icing
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a mixing bowl, blend sugar, cocoa, and butter. Add vegetable and egg and mix until fluffy.
In a separate small bowl, combine flour, salt and baking powder. Then add the mix to the wet ingredients.
Once blended, spoon onto a greased cookie sheet. This recipe gave me about 14 cookies.
Bake for 10-12 minutes. Cookies will come out super gooey but they will harden over time.
Before they harden, push two pretzels and one m&m to create ears and nose.
Let them cool for 10 minutes before creating the frosting eyes!
