I have been doing Ideal Protein for about 4 weeks now and have lost 10 lbs, even with a Napa trip! It feels great that I’m almost back at my pre-baby weight but boy, it’s been a journey to get here! I’ll be writing a full post on Ideal Protein but you can read my experience doing it last year here.
I wanted to share a few low-carb meal ideas since Ideal Protein can be veryyy bland if you don’t branch out.
Sautéd scallops and grilled zucchini. Spices: salt and pepper & a drizzle of olive oil. To cook scallops: sear on each side for 2 -3 minutes on a heated sauce pan!
Mustard chicken + roasted broccoli
I top the chicken with plain yellow mustard and sprinkle any steak seasoning on it. My favorite is “Chicago Steak”. The broccoli is chopped and drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt and pepper. I cook all for about 23 minutes at 400.
It’s hard to see but there are little jicama tacos here! Jicama is a vegetable and these are are super low carb and calorie! 2 wraps is 15 calories at 1 net carb. You can buy them at Trader Joe’s and I love them way more than lettuce wraps! I roasted zucchini with salt and pepper and used 6-8 oz ground turkey + yellow mustard! These taste way better than they look!
This salad has spinach, deli turkey, sliced dill pickles, raw broccoli, and mushrooms. I topped it with a tsp of olive oil and salt. I swear salt makes everything better! You can have unlimited spinach on this diet… EXCITING….
This is lump crab with pan-seared pre-cooked shrimp. I love cajun seasoning. It’s all on top of a basic salad. If you want to make it even tastier, include avocado and cherry tomatoes (but avocado is not IP friendly)… I kept it super simple since Ideal Protein is the keto diet on steroids.
Other Meal Ideas:
Salmon + Roasted GREEN veggie (you can only have salmon once a week on Ideal Protein because it’s pretty fatty… even though it’s GOOD fat, IP wants to keep your calorie count low!)
Steak tacos on jicama… add in some green bell peppers!
Chicken and Shrimp Bowls… I sauté these separately and throw them in a bowl of steamed or roasted broccoli! You can top with hot sauce to give them a little more bite but I love steak seasoning for chicken (weird?) and cajun for shrimp!
