I can’t believe my little Jack Jack is already 3 months old. Sometimes it feels like the last 3 months have been LONG. But other days I can’t believe my peanut is smiling and finally sleeping longer stretches. I really enjoy writing these posts because they are great to reference when I’m back in the thick of it with the next baby!
I had just started a schedule with Charlie when she was around 3 months. I had been winging it and felt a bit lost not knowing what I was doing. The schedule greatly helped getting him sleep through the night and I wish I had started it way sooner!
McKenna had a great schedule right off the bat thanks to @bumble.baby and Mom’s on call. I’m still doing Mom’s on Call with Jack but following it more closely this time. It’s funny how different it is than my schedule was with McKenna! I’m currently working with Kate again because I hit a wall with Jack, and of course, she’s already implemented a few changes that have made ALL the difference. I swear, if you have a struggle with your baby, Kate and her team can literally help you figure out ANYTHING baby related. They are the baby magicians.
I thought I’d just share our current schedule (including my toddlers!) that’s been working great for us!
6:30/7am... wake + feed (currently breastfeeding but this is my last week and I will be subbing in a 6-8 oz bottle)
8:15/8:30am nap
9:30am 6oz bottle
11am: nap
11:30 toddler lunch
12:30pm: 6 oz bottle
1pm: toddlers nap
1:45: Jack nap (kids usually overlap for at least an hour if I’m lucky)
3:30: 6oz bottle
5:15-6:30 cat nap
6:30 6 oz bottle
7:30 bath + bed!
There is a lot on that schedule but the gist is that Jack eats 5 times during the day and usually a feeding in the middle of the night between 3 and 5 am. McKenna was eating 6x a day and sleeping through the night but that schedule just didn’t work for Jack. I couldn’t get him to go to bed early enough and overlap napping with toddlers doing that, so this schedule works much better for us. Jack also has a thing called a high palate which means the roof of his mouth is very narrow, making it more difficult for him to eat. (I would have never have known all this if it weren’t for Kate). I shared that I offer a 6oz bottle at each feeding but he has only finished a 6oz bottle once. He usually eats 4-5 ounces. I had to switch around our bottles and learn new methods for getting the nipple in his mouth just right and it’s been quite an adjustment having a third baby who is a little more high maintenance than the others! But it’s okay. I love him to death. He is a little peanut, just like Charlie was. He is currently in the 7th percentile and weighs 12 lbs! Now that he is eating more, I wonder if this will change!
Jack is very easy to read. He only fusses when he starts getting tired or wakes up from a nap and is super hungry. It’s very easy to calm him with a clean diaper and a pacifier.
Overall he is a sweet baby with a few learning curves and every day, he makes me so very happy! There is nothing more comforting or humbling to me than a sweet innocent snuggly baby who knows nothing but love. I’m in Jack Heaven over here and I can’t get enough of my baby boy.
