Cue the festive music, holiday baking, pine scented candles, and red & green decor. Christmas is just around the corner and we’re celebrating every which way we can! After a rainy weekend spent indoors, I had a lot of downtime to ponder all the things I want to do to make this season magical this year.
Generally we visit Austin Trail of Lights and Mozarts Coffee Shop for a light show, but those two things are off the table for us this year. They are both happening with precautions in place for covid, but I’m just not feeling it. Instead, we plan on doing evening walks around our neighborhood to look at lights, and drives for further distances with hot chocolate. If we all stay safe and the world doesn’t shut down, my family will be coming in for Christmas! Here are some things I want to do this month:
Bake bake bake & have a cookie decorating contest! There will be no shortage of baking around here but I think it would be really fun to have a holiday bake off with my family while listening to Charlie Brown. Sitting around the table with sprinkles and icing and creative minds working hard sounds more festive and fun than ever.
Create a festive mocktail! I have been browsing recipes and am eager to find the best drink to share with you here!
Visit Sweet Eats Fruit Farm for their Christmas festival! We’ll head there on a week day to avoid crowds and visit the reindeer!
Write (draw) letters to Santa!
Visit a Christmas tree farm and take pictures and buy a decoration! (since we already have our wreathes and trees)
Complete a holiday puzzle with the family
Make gingerbread houses with the kids!
Creative a beautiful centerpiece for our dining table. So much inspiration on pinterest!
Bake cookies and deliver with our Christmas cards to our next-door neighbors
Sing Christmas carols around the piano on Christmas Eve :)
Have a pajama party movie nightÂ
I’m sure I’ll keep thinking of ideas as the season goes on, but I think that’s a good start! What are your favorite traditions this time of year?
