Thanksgiving is one of my all time favorite holidays. It’s right at the tail end of fall and a cozy holiday spent with family and friends. There’s no pressure for gifts, just good stuffing ;) It’s an excuse to slow down and remind ourselves of our blessings. And it’s a reason to break out some of those dishware items that are saved just for this time of year!
This is our second year hosting Thanksgiving. We made the decision to stop traveling for holidays a few years ago and I’ve really dived into the excitement of being host. I set the table for six people, although we may only have four. Quite the contrast from the fifteen that gathered last year!
As with just about every holiday, I like to go all out to with decor to make it feel extra special. So I did some browsing to find the inspiration for the kind of table I wanted to set for Thanksgiving!
I had this vision of greenery and white pumpkins and had fun bringing it to life. It turns out all the stores rid themselves of pumpkins immediately after Halloween! I had to move to faux ones, which is probably better, and a friend suggested these on Amazon. And they turned out perfect!
Our greenery is from the Hearth and Hand line at Target and I was worried it would be a bit much but I kind of like the busy table! It’s made of wire and easy to bend the greenery if different directions if need be. I found the candlesticks and votives at World Market, and sadly the little turkeys aren’t available online! Aren’t they fun?
Eric and I have called our style ‘contemporary farmhouse’ and I think this table displays that perfectly. Our dinnerware is William Sonoma from last year and they are classic! They don’t offer this print anymore but have other festive options. I included our tartan napkins to create a more holiday feel and they are always a favorite this time of year.
It looks like I left an extra empty candlestick on the table without realizing. If I shot this for a magazine, I would have to start over. But #bloglife? I’ll let it slide ;)
