This is my first time decorating a porch ever! Not unless you count the three pumpkins we put out last year. As a lover of FALL, having this pumpkin filled entryway gives me all the autumnal feels!
We went a little overboard I guess, but we’re hoping we can make this decor last through Thanksgiving. The pumpkins are from a variety of places including pumpkin patches around town, but all the colorful funky ones are from our local Trader Joe’s! Trader Joe’s also had the fun cinnamon sticks since we couldn’t figure out how to get corn stalks from anywhere.
We picked up our Mums from Home Depot and although most people have told us they struggled to keep theirs alive in Texas, we have hope (ha!). I did some crowdsourcing to find out how to care for mums and most of you suggested to water these every day here. I also watched this youtube video which basically tells you how high maintenance mums are, as it’s important not to get the actual flowers wet themselves (how does this work when it rains?) and they can’t be too wet or too dry (cool!)… Anyway, wish us luck with these, ha! They are about to bloom and I’m pumped.
I think one of the reasons Fall is my favorite season is because just about no matter where you are, you want to be outside! Fresh air and a warm drink are the little things that we look forward to and it’s the beginning of so many fun holidays. Taking strolls around our neighborhood to look at people’s decor is already routine for us and I love that my kids get just as excited as I do.
