Adventures at Sweet Berry Farm

09.29.2020

It’s starting to feel like fall in Austin!

And I’m here for all the fall things! I feel like I’ve been a in a rut lately with the world weighing heavy on me and getting out to do our first fall adventure gave me a sense of normalcy and peace.

Last year we took the kids to a pumpkin patch just 30 minutes outside of town called Barton Hills Farm but we decided to try a new place a bit further this year! Sweet Berry Farm is located in Marble Falls, Texas, just an hour’s drive from Austin. I knew that this would impact nap time for my kids, but decided it was totally worth it for the adventure!

This farm gets packed on weekends so we got there as early as we could on a Friday (9:15!) before the crowds. For any of you who stay at home with your kids, I recommend going on a Monday or Tuesday which are the least busy days. Unlike other places, you do not need a reservation in advance and entry is free. Each activity has a price (very affordable!) and you can buy tickets at all different locations on the farm. Credit card/check/cash- whatever you have!

I LOVED this farm. There is so much to do with kids of all ages! We spent two and a half hours there painting pumpkins, feeding goats, picking flowers, and riding a barrel train. We didn’t even get a chance to check out the pony rides, bounce floor, or scarecrow stuffing. The property is large with plenty of space to social distance! We picked out a few pumpkins for our front porch and the kids had a ball just exploring.

I highly recommend traveling with baby wipes whether or not you have littles! You’ll want something to wipe your hands with after painting and feeding goats! And hand sanitizer is a must! Also, I didn’t realize that parts of it would be so muddy and our shoes definitely took a beating! It was all worth it.

This is a place I plan on taking my kids to every year that made me feel like I was back in the midwest!  For any of you new to Austin, they offer other activities in different seasons including strawberry picking in Spring!

I’m so excited for this season and seeing the excitement all the simple things bring to my kids lives.
