It’s such a weird time to have summer’s end is just around the corner when really, we’ll still have hot temperatures here until and even through parts of October. I’ve really enjoyed this summer simply because we have this wonderful outdoor space that lends itself to more time outside. That means lots of extra ways to wear our children out and also soak up fresh air. I still can’t believe we are people who have a pool and I’m still thanking my lucky stars.
Because of this, I spend so much time in swimsuits and one of my favorite things to put on over a swimsuit is a caftan. Emerson Fry has such beautiful prints and delicate fabrics and I finally purchased my first caftan this summer. They are a pretty penny but worth it if you spend as much time in this type of clothing as I do! However, I did find this Amazon caftan for a fraction of the price that is made from a sturdy fabric and is stunning, so you have options if a caftan has been on your wishlist!
I wanted to share a few books I have loved this year and why! Reading has been my happy place in these uncertain times and these 5 grabbed me from start to finish. I hope you enjoy these as much has I did!
One Day in December– the cutest love at first sight story that will hook you from the first chapter. A quick read and adorable characters. This was our first read for Autumn Girl book club!
The Heir Affair– Sequel to The Royal We which is one of my favorite books ever. I love the loose ends it tied up and the complexity of each relationship. You get an inside look of what it might look like to be a royal and some of the best laugh-out-loud writing. It’s a feel good book that will let you escape to a different world for a moment :)
All the Ways We Said Goodbye– I’m a huge WWII novel lover and this one fit the bill. 4 Love Stories (always high on my priority list for good books) transcending time.
The Wife Between Us– this was the first quick read I had in 2020 and it was a page turner I finished in just two days. Mystery. Darkness. So many twists and unexpected turns. The perfect crime novel to read between your light and airy books :)
Daisy Jones and the Six– this one is outside my normal type of book style but it was so fabulously written with such complexity and beautiful writing that I couldn’t wait to discuss with my book club! I was so impressed with the story telling and as a Fleetwood Mac fan, couldn’t wait to find out the ending.
What’s your favorite book you’ve read recently? I’ve read a few this year that were good but not ones I LOVED and I’m so eager to read a page turner!
