Hello friends! I have been brainstorming ways to feel connected again during this continued pandemic and thought it would be really fun to do another challenge. However, I wanted it to be a little different than our quarantine challenge back in March and instead, focus on wellness and organization. A little detox for our bodies and our minds. Let’s call it a motivation challenge and an opportunity to take care of ourselves and get a few things done.
The world is still in a crazy place and it’s clear this pandemic isn’t ending anytime soon. Whether you’re still at home or getting out a bit more, let’s take a moment to roll our shoulders back and approach a new month with the mentality, we‘ve got this. It will be for the month of August as we make our way into the unknown Fall. Let’s make the most of our final month of summer (whatever that looks like for you!) and focus on wellness.
I wanted this to be a challenge that could be easy to change around to fit your individual needs. Some things may be things you are already doing but maybe one thing or another will push you to try something new. I really want to focus on a healthy mindset and a healthy approach to taking care of ourselves every week. I’ve shared my goal calendar below so feel free to print or create your own.
And I’ll dive deeper into what each of these means!
Daily Goals:
Drink 64oz water
Gratitude Journal: make note of 3 things you are grateful for every day!
I think it’s so important to begin our days with a fresh glass of water and healthy mindset. Even in the midst of this crazy world, there are always things to be grateful for. Making note of them always gives me a healthy dose of perspective. I highly encourage you to create a gratitude journal, even if it’s something you just think about before bed!
Weekly Goals:
Meal Plan: I’ll be sharing my meal plan on Friday every week in case you need some inspiration before you begin shopping on Sunday. If it’s not accessible via my blog (I have to get my computer repaired!), keep your eyes peeled on Instagram.
Alcohol detox 4 nights. I don’t know about you but this is crucial to my sleep and overall way I feel about my body! It makes me feel more excited about the weekends too.
Exercise 4x times a week for 30 minutes. Whether this means taking your baby out on a stroll or getting on a zoom barre class or doing jumping jacks in your kitchen, give yourself an opportunity to be active. Plan along with your meal calendar the type of work out you want to get in that day!
Social Media Detox. Getting offline and focusing on the things happening right in front of you are crucial to happiness. I have marked off Saturdays as the day to do it but I encourage doing it more often. It’s crazy how much more productive I am when I take a break! And it’s good for my mental health too.
Organization Project. Feeling productive is one of the best feelings, isn’t it? I’m going to share a few ideas below that I will be doing but give yourself a chance to feel organized and feel free to switch these up for what works for you.
Project 1: Get rid of unnecessary kitchen gadgets and pots and pans
Project 2: Clean out and reorganize kitchen pantry
Project 3: Clean off phone pictures and put all favorite photos in a file on computer.
Project 4: Organize laundry room
Other organization ideas:
Clean out “random drawer” in kitchen. We all have one, right?
Get rid of extra unnecessary cables and cords
Clean or reorganized play space for kids
Purge and reorganize closet
Get rid of old shoes
Move furniture around in a bedroom to change things up
Organize photos for baby book or create baby book. Highly recommend Shutterfly. I use the classic white!
Clean out garage
Clean out car
Get rid of old make up and clean out make up bags
SELF CARE THURSDAY
Each Thursday (or whatever day works better for you), pamper yourself with a little self care. I’ll share each week what I am doing and here are a few ideas:
At home manicure/pedicure
Face mask movie night
Early wake up or bed time for some much needed space alone
Treat yourself to something special
Meditation or yoga
Take a bath or long shower
Pamper your skin
Listen to a new podcast
Goals for the Month:
Start a skincare routine. I wrote a post about how to start one here. But you can use any kind of products you like! Even if it means just applying sunscreen every time you’re outside or putting on moisturizer before you head out the door, do something!
Read a book. I didn’t want to add too much to our list but I think swapping out screen time for some healthy reading before bed is really helpful for a good night sleep. Here are some books on my list:
Hillbilly Elegy by J.D Vance
28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand
Red, White, and Royal Blue (currently reading).
I just finished these and loved:
All the Ways We Said Goodbye by Beatriz Williams
The Heir Affair (sequel to The Royal We) by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Try a new recipe. I’m going to make this salad at some point from Half Baked Harvest!
Eat well. Plan several healthy meals for each week.
I hope you get as excited as I am about this new challenge and opportunity to push ourselves to the best we can be! I’ll try to consistently share new ideas as they approach and share on IG so we can cheer each other on. Please tag me on Instagram if you do any of these things! #TAGmotivationchallenge
I can’t wait to see you what you come up with. Here’s to a new month and a fresh start.
