How are you all doing? It’s week 6 of quarantine over here and I guess Texas is the first state to start opening back up. At this point it means state parks have opened and retailers can do curbside pick up. It will be a slow process, but it’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
I feel like those first few weeks everyone was in shock by the situation. Lots of group texts with hysterical memes and scheduled family zoom calls. Now it’s our new normal. I think I’m a pretty positive person but over the weekend I started feeling this cloud over me. Totally burned out.
We had a few projects around the house and the kids watched more TV than I’m really ever okay with. It was rainy and dreary so we spent less time outside. But right at my low point, that sun peeked out, and I forced myself for a run during naptime and it lifted my mood like crazy.
Fresh air. Sunshine. Nature. Here’s the thing… in the midst of these uncertain times, there are still things to be grateful for. The aroma of coffee, Spring blooms, and the way so many Americans and people around the world have found new ways to connect. We are all impacted by this one way or another. Every day I thank God for the health of my family and the sweet little happy beings I’m raising, blissfully unaware of what’s going on. Appreciation is crucial to happiness.
But some days are still harder than others. I find that in order for me to feel and like time passes, I have to get up every day and get dressed.
And no, it doesn’t mean I’m wearing pretty dresses like this (although I did dress up over the weekend for my sister’s virtual wedding festivities), but getting out of pajamas. Putting myself together does wonders for my soul. It doesn’t mean makeup and clean hair every day either. It means approaching the day with the attitude that it’s a NEW day and even though there is so much SAMENESS, it’s an opportunity for a fresh start.
Over the weekend we took pictures by a church near us (NO one around). It felt so good to dress up and shoot outfit photos again! This dress is $65 and the color palette is perfect for Spring into Summer. I love love the style of this dress. Makes me feel like a Southern gal. Dreaming of future travel and maybe a visit to Charleston in this one….
How are you all keeping your head up during these times? Saying an extra prayer for those are have/had covid19, those who have lost their jobs, and those at the front lines fighting this virus.
