Our sweet little gal turns one today and we celebrated over the weekend with a Valentine’s-themed birthday party! It was so much fun. Not just for the kiddos and their adorable friends, but for ME. I know that first birthday parties are really for the parents and I definitely went all out for this one!
I was inspired after working on a campaign with Huggies last fall that required me to visit our local diaper bank, to do a diaper drive myself. That was the catalyst for having a birthday party! I really wanted to do something to give back to our community.
I decided that I also wanted to include some small businesses in this post that I love and think you will love to! These artists are so talented and make the most beautiful (and delicious) pieces!
Before I dive in, I wanted to share some of the food we served because I didn’t really photograph anything other than dessert! But we had a lot of food including chicken nuggets, goldfish, cheese & crackers, a fruit salad, and beverages from sparkling water to champagne and beer! There was a little bit of something for everybody.
Our invitation is from an Etsy shop I found on Pinterest called Tea Olive Design Shop! I loved the colors and simple print. And she was so quick & easy to work with. I had these printed at Fedex the day after I ordered!
My best friend does hand lettering and she designed this birthday sign! She was able to snag the colors from the invitation to create this and I love the way it turned out! Check out her Instagram page Lizzy Loves Letters for more of her work :)
These cookies are a total work of art and a huge hit at the party! They were so pretty, I almost didn’t want to eat them. But they were very delicious and both kids and adults crushed them. A local Austin business Mindy’s Bakeshop makes all sorts of desserts of your dreams come true. I loved the personal detail of these beauties! So festive & fun.
I found For Pete’s Sake Pottery on Instagram last fall and fell in love with her chinoiserie pumpkins immediately. Since then, I’ve been frequenting her page and saw this beautiful Cupid Platter and knew it would be perfect for the party. She has so many great pieces for holidays and more! Can we talk about her Easter Collection? I want them all.
Tiny Pies is another local Austin business. Their miniature pies are insanely good and we breezed through the miniature pecan pie bites. You can ship these babies from Austin if you’re eager to try and aren’t nearby! Their chocolate cream pie was another personal favorite :) These are such a great treat for any party/event and a perfect way to try some tiny bites of different flavors! We will be ordering again!
The above hanging rack was a Home Goods find! So glad I have it now as another place to hang Christmas cards :)
McKenna’s bubble dress is Smocked Auctions! It’s a great shop to get the cutest festive outfits for littles. M’s is a size 12 months and was HUGE. I’d say they run a tad large!
Balloons, high chair skirt, and heart lights are all from Party City. Not a small business but still a fave!
Huge thanks to our friends for bringing these diapers for the Austin Diaper Bank! I highly encourage you to look into your local diaper bank and their needs! 1 in 3 families struggle to provide enough diapers for their babies. Ours Diaper bank takes diapers of all sizes including adult as well as period supplies. They will even take open packages.
I can’t believe my little Valentine is ONE! The year flew by.
