There is no holiday that goes uncelebrated in our house! I am so excited for Valentine’s day next week, especially since we are throwing a Valentine’s themed birthday party for our sweet McKenna who is turning one!
I love gift giving but am also a little hesitant about setting the precedent of having gifts for every holiday. However, I do love reading with my kids and don’t think you can ever shower a child with too many books, so I scooped up a few love-themed ones for the holiday.
I think celebrating holidays can be as simple as wearing festive colors & making something fun in the kitchen! But here are some more ideas for Valentine’s Day with your littles:
Get a clear plastic jar or box, washable paint, some marbles or playdough balls (when you have to think on your feet!) and some card stock! Place card stock in jar, pour a few drops of paint, and throw marbles in to shake! Such a simple, mess-free craft to create with your kiddos! And it’s fun! We cut the card stock into hearts to create valentines.
Make heart shaped cookies or cakes with cookie cutters!
Pick out some Valentine’s books.
Make heart shaped pizzas!
Eat breakfast together around the table with heart shaped placemats!
Get a mini playdough pack for your classroom with gifttags: “You’re A-doh-able”
Wear heart pajamas and have a pj party!
Make muffins and add a little red food coloring or better yet, fruit!
Invite friends over for a playdate and wear different shades of red & pink!
Do you get into this holiday with your kids? What are your traditions?!

Hi Meg, I felt so happy after reading your post. Those Valentine cards have my heart as they are so cute. We too try to celebrate each small occasion as I feel it brings you close to each other.

I did heart-shaped meatloaf for my hubby and littles. My co-worker gave me the idea. They loved it!
