Valentine’s Day is yet another holiday I love celebrating. I know for many it can be a lonely one or viewed as a ‘Hallmark’ holiday, but personally I find it another reason to simply celebrate love. All kinds of love!
I have so many fond memories of crafting valentine cards in elementary school, turning shoe boxes into little mail boxes, dressing up in red and pink, and eating lots of candy.
My family also had fun celebrations. No matter what day of the week the holiday fell on, we would have breakfast at our round dining table and each get a little gift! My personal favorites were these miniature dolls they sold at Walgreens (ha!)
My grandfather used to take his four daughters to lunch every Valentine’s day and it’s a tradition that’s been passed down to his sons! I hope to make it a special one for our kids too.
Now that we have a little Valentine baby, there will always be another reason to get festive this time of year. I also find that having something to look forward to in the heart of winter is always fun. So now I have plenty of reasons to collect those cute little heart decorations for my home and bust out the bright red and pink hand towels. Hand crafted notes to family & friends will be a developing tradition around here and I look forward to creating fun memories for my children.
Do you do anything special for Valentine’s Day? Instead of a romantic dinner with E, we’ll probably do something at home with the family! And I plan on wearing this cozy eyelash sweater :)
