Summer Reflections

You know those outfits you slip on that required little thought but made you look like you put a little effort in? The best- am I right?

There’s just something about a lightweight jumpsuit that gives me alllll the stylish, put-together feels. I found this cute navy polka dot number on sale and immediately ordered because the color combo + ankle crop felt like the perfect duo to transition to fall. I ordered a size 4 in petite because I like the straps a little more snug and the ankle a little higher. But a regular 4 would have probably fit well too. This is currently on sale at Madewell in a few sizes but I also linked via Shopbop in case you can’t find your size now.

The concept of ‘back to school’ feels so strange to me as it’s been 10 years since I’ve gone back but I always have this sense of returning to routine and normalcy come end of August. It’s just that feeling of wanting to get organized and get things set up in my planner and prepare for all the fall festivities, you know? I’m one of those people who ‘likes the sound’ of football on the TV on the weekends even though I still cannot tell you how the game works. I’m all about ambience!

I’m just soaking up these last two weeks of summer and enjoying all the activity with my kids. Splash pads. Indoor play gyms. Swimming. Rolling playdough. Family barbecues. Dance parties… I know I’ve said this a bunch but it’s really been one of my favorite summers since moving to Texas. I feel like I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that this is my new home and summers are a little different than growing up. We’re creating our new normal with the heat and it’s been so much fun!

I hope you’ve had an amazing summer and take a chance to reflect on some of your favorite memories. My shutterfly books are en route and I can’t wait to look back at all we’ve done, even in years to come :) Some of you have asked what I do with all my pictures… Well, I make books! Such a fun way to hold on to memories.
