Delicious Turkey Burgers with Simple Sides!

06.13.2019

I am so excited for today’s recipe because I made it for the first time last week and I know it’s quickly going to become a favorite! I do not know how to operate a grill: truth. I also don’t really have interest… but I DO love me a good burger! I did a little recipe searching last week for some turkey burgers with great flavor and found this recipe. I served it with my favorite sweet potato and salad sides!

Even if you aren’t a huge mushroom fan (it totally depends on how they are cooked for me), I think you’ll still enjoy these burgers. The turkey meat ground with the veggies and onion create an unbelievable flavor. Note: this recipe takes about 45 minutes.

Ingredients:

1 lb ground turkey
2 portobello mushrooms diced
1 bell pepper
1/2 yellow onion
1 egg
Kosher Salt & Pepper
Avocado, lettuce wraps, and tomato for taste!

Side ingredients:
Sweet potato
spinach
walnuts
strawberries
balsamic vinegar

Getting Sides Ready:

Preheat oven to 400 and dice sweet potatoes into small bite size pieces. You’ll want these baking while you are cooking your burgers.

Spray a baking pan with olive oil and add diced potatoes. Sprinkle with salt and your choice of pepper or cinnamon (I love the latter!)

Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown.

Place walnuts in a baking pan and bake for 5-7 minutes to toast perfectly! I love having these with spinach and strawberry salad!

Turkey Burger Directions:

Throw onion and bell pepper into a food processor to dice quickly or dice with a knife.

In a cast iron pan, sauteé diced portobello mushrooms with a little bit of olive oil until brown and cooked through.

Add onion and pepper to pan until peppers are soft. Set aside to cool.

In a mixing bowl, combine raw turkey with contents of cast iron skillet and roll into six balls.

Pat balls into burgers and place on a piece of parchment paper.

Wipe out cast iron pan and add a little cooking oil. Pan fry burgers a few minutes on each side, continually flipping after a few minutes to avoid burn.

Burgers are cooked when inside temperature is 165 degrees!

Enjoy!
