3 months already? They aren’t kidding when they time flies with your second child! I think when you see the end in sight for a newborn, you breeze past some of those tougher moments. Time flew with Charlie but not quite like this.
McKenna has been Miss Chill since day 1. I thought Charlie was an easy baby but she’s so much more calm. The perfect little addition to our chaotic family. I like writing these posts because not only are they helpful for new mamas, but I also love going back to them! My 3 month post with Charlie was so different!
First, McKenna is sleeping through the night. If you missed it, I wrote my Moms on Call Review last week. We just transitioned her out of her swaddle a week ago and it took 3 nights to get adjusted! Just as I was warned. Night 1 was really rough. She was up all night pretty much. Night two she woke up several times crying but it didn’t last more than 10 minutes. Night 3 she slept from 8:30 to 7…. (and I had to wake her up). I think my little babe is ready for 12 hours! We’re almost there!
Likes: Laying on her playmat, smiling, batting toys, people smiling at her, and being held upright to see everything
Dislikes: Wet diapers, being overheated!
Our current favorite baby products for 3 months and under:
To this day, the Ergo Baby 360 Carrier is my all-time favorite baby product. It gets used EVERY day. We love our boppy billow for laying McKenna on the counter and out of reach. LOVE Tommee Tippee bottles (because they are so easy to clean). Not a big fan of boppy nursing pillow but LOVE Dr. Brown’s nursing pillow (no longer available but similar here). Also love Dohm Sound Machine, Velcro SwaddleME swaddles over zip up SwaddleMe sacks, Wubba Nubb pacifiers and our double jogger!
Here is McKenna’s 3 month schedule which we shall be adjusting shortly!
7am: Wake/feed (I then pump one side)
9am: Feed again
9:30/10am- short nap on the trail or wherever we are out… Mama’s gotta get out of the house!
12pm: Feed
1pm: Naptime
3pm: Feed
4pm: Nap
5:30pm: Feed
7:30pm: Bath/bottle (I probably do a bath twice a week! I haven’t been good at making this regular) Bottle is breastmilk right now! I pump before bed (usually 9:30/10)
8pm: Bed! She wears an open-armed Halo sleepsack over a longsleeve onesie.
I think we are ready to cut out a feed and go to bed at 7 but I haven’t figured out how to adjust that and still get the kids sleeping on the same schedule so I’m just rolling with this right now and it’s working :)
McKenna has been a dream. I love her coos and smiles. She is just so darn happy and we love her so much. I have to put her down on a playmat and have her play by herself often because I have to tend to wild toddler. I often will put her playmat up in her crib so that she is out of Charlie’s reach. She has learned how to calm herself down (fingers in mouth!) because she has had to!
Not every baby is like this. I know. Charlie was a lot tougher at this age. And maybe we are due for a regression or a change with M. But right now I’m soaking up all this sleep and trying to embrace these highs :) I love my sweet babies (and how much Charlie loves his sister) SO much. Life is good with these two.
