Charlie’s room is a special place in our house and one that gets a lot of love. There is no theme but rather a collection for a growing imagination. We have giraffes, sports, cars, and lots of books. And room for growth.
When we found out we were pregnant with our second, we decided right away that we would get a another crib. However, we wanted to make sure that crib would convert to a toddler bed and even a bed for an adult after that! We stopped into Pottery Barn and found the adorable ‘Charlie’ furniture set and knew it was meant to be. We had fun making each of our babies rooms less gender neutral and more fitting for a boy and girl theme. We painted Charlie’s room a light blue (this room gets the least amount of natural light) and started filling it with other pieces of decor since it was originally all animal themed.
Eric loved the idea of adding something sports related but didn’t want to pick just one and dictate what kind of sports Charlie should like. So we found an awesome print that included a few. We received a hand-me-down race car lamp and cute picture frame from our sitter for his dresser. His book shelf is still a work in progress (as is McKenna’s) because our sweet toddler is quite a climber and one who tends to get into everything. We got him a large ruler so we could start measuring his height as he grows! Did you do this as a kid? We had a space in our basement growing up where we would track our growth. It was so much fun.
I love our bedtime routine in this room. After Charlie’s bath, we read books, turn on the sound machine, diffuse lavender (a few nights a week), and sing a few songs. The best is when all four of us are able to do it together.
This motherhood journey has been quite a ride and the highs are the highest of highs. I am excited for when Charlie has some opinions about how to decorate his own space but right now I’m enjoying this time when we have the say in how everything in our house looks ;) Ha.
