A new year is upon us and it’s always a time when I’m ready to hit refresh. For many years I have come up with resolutions and changes I need to make for myself but this year I would rather set attainable goals and not put too much pressure on myself to be anything other than me.
In this world of blogging, it’s so easy to get caught up in the comparison game and feel like you’re not enough. Social media constantly tells us we could be cooler, better, smarter, prettier, or doing more. But over the last few months, I have dedicated so much time to talking about things that matter to me, sharing things that make me feel inspired, and at the end of the day, that’s what fulfills me.
I always want The Autumn Girl to be a source for women to find confidence and inspiration and it must start with me! So I have set some personal and professional goals for this year that I think will help me grow as a mom, wife, and creative entrepreneur.
PERSONAL GOALS:
Give myself more breaks
I get a break 2 days a week when Charlie goes to daycare and on nights when we have a sitter so we can get out. But other than that, I often spread myself too thin while trying to find balance between being mom 24/7 and working on this blog. I need both so I’m going to work on separating them more (less screen time around C, more sitters and working in coffee shops) so that I can be the best version of myself for both.
This is such a broad goal but an easy one I think! For as much of a book worm as I am, I haven’t been great about reading lately. Mostly because I’m so tiiiiired all the time that when I have a minute to myself and get in bed with a book, I can’t keep my eyes open. But this soon will pass and I want to spend more time reading and less on my phone!
Do more activities with Charlie
I have only a month left with one child. I want to take advantage of our special time together and do some fun activities. The Thinkery, a few park dates, and possibly some pottery painting come to mind.
Love my body more
Celebrate it. Honor it. Treat it well. And remember I just carried two babies in the past two years. Positive talk is KEY.
PROFESSIONAL GOALS:
Create More Video Content
I set a goal to start a youtube channel over a year ago and I finally got my first video up! I’ll be sharing it soon in a beauty post but you can take a peak here. It took me a long time to edit but I’m proud of myself for setting aside the time to just figure it out!
Reach out to brands I love
Why not? What is there to lose? I just had my first success in landing a collaboration with a big company that I love and it gave me a new sense of confidence. I can’t wait to share the details with you. It is so important to me that you trust me and that means total honesty when it comes to sharing brands with you. I say no to most collaborations unless I am eager to try (or already use) the product, or genuinely love the brand.
Set up a content calendar and get more organized
It just makes life so much easier!
Take My Own Photos
The best Christmas gift I received was a new camera from E. I LOVE IT. I have been having fun playing around with it and now I want to take our newborn family photos myself! I think I can do it! I’m going to try!
As always, please reach out to me with content ideas if there is something you want to see! I always love your insight and I want to make sure TAG is always a place for a good read!
Are you a resolution or goals type of person? What’s motivating you in the new year?
Let’s make 2019 the best year yet.
