‘Tis the season for creating some of the most special memories. As a child, this time of year was filled with Christmas pageants, snow fort building, fireside reading, and lots of wishes for Santa! I still remember some of the special Christmasas we had with my grandparents, all dressed up in velvet and tights, and catching up with lots of cousins. One year we visited the Art Institute of Chicago and took home ornaments, another we saw a play, and we always visited the windows at Macy’s.
I have so many favorite holiday traditions, but now that we have our own family and live in a new city, I’m looking forward to starting some new ones. I spent some time baking cinnamon rolls over the weekend for Christmas morning and it inspired me to make a list of the special memories I want to create for our family!
HOLIDAY TRADITION WISHLIST:
Make cinnamon rolls from scratch and serve them on Christmas morning– in the works!
Pictures with Santa — we tried 3 times this year! We got one I think will be hilarious to look back at in the future.
Holiday party with the kids — Friends of ours host a holiday party where they bring a small gift for each of their children and invite a friend to dress as Santa and hand them out to each child. Witnessing this was so special and I want to replicate this idea!
Matching PJS— I looove the idea of dressing the whole family in matching pajamas.
See a play — A Christmas Carol or The Nutcracker- it’s so festive!
Have the kids countdown to Jesus’ birthday — we want to remember the significance of this Holiday.
Make ornaments! — We’ve done this with my grandmother and it was so much fun!
Peppermint hot chocolate movie night — pick a date in December and make it a family affair
Adopt a family — I would love to give back with our kids!
Sing Christmas Carols on Christmas Eve — I think this is SO much fun with the family
