Do you have those times in your life when you just need to hit the reset button, regroup, and refresh? I’m raising my hand high in the air over here. It happens frequently.
Whether it’s a lengthy to-do list, an unfinished project, or just feeling like I can’t get ahead, I have to take a moment to myself and just breathe. I know I’m not alone in my bouts of anxiety. In this fast paced social media crazed world we live in, it’s easy to feel like you’re not doing enough while others are doing it all.
Whenever I feel like the world is on top of me and I can’t get out from underneath it, I remember to take a break and hit refresh. It’s okay to sit down with a cup of coffee and stare at the wall. It does wonders for the mind just to be still.
Here are my tips for hitting refresh:
- Sweat it out– I’m a huge advocate for getting a solid sweat sesh in. Sometimes when I’m totally overwhelmed or have something I really need to think over, I’ll go for a long walk or a run (if someone can watch C). I never regret exercise. Ever.
- Unplug for a bit- and stop scrolling. Take a break from being totally accessible all the time. Tune out of what others are doing and get a fresh perspective on what’s going on in your own life. As awesome as social media can be (I just love the connectivity!), sometime’s its the biggest time suck. Give yourself a break from the squares!
- Dedicate time to yourself- Even if it means a face mask + your favorite reality show, make sure you get a moment to be by yourself and relax. Having alone time is so essential to mentally regrouping and happiness (in my opinion!) I love taking a bath with a good book but when days get away from me, I try to get in bed early.
- Un-clutter your mind– or your house. Does anyone else find cleaning therapeutic? I find a spotless kitchen and vacuumed floor extremely stress relieving but that could be just me. If you don’t find cleanliness refreshing, maybe getting organized or writing a to-do list is more your fancy. The more prepared I feel and on top of things, the more relaxed I am.
- Get outside- Mother nature never fails to remind me how big and vast this world is and how much is possible. Just getting fresh air and a new view helps me relax.
