Motherhood is one exciting, life-changing journey, but can be totally overwhelming, especially in those first few weeks. As a new mom, I thought I’d put together a list of some of my favorite items I am using or would love to receive!
There are a few baby items that I can’t live without and that includes my Ergo Baby 360 Carrier. I wear it at least once every single day. I was able to clean the bathroom while Charlie napped and simultaneously caught up with my cousin over the phone (TY headphones!) and I felt like a total boss. This carrier was my best friend when we traveled last month too. You can wear your baby 4 different ways in it and it’s easy to to install an infant insert for those babies that aren’t quite big enough for it yet! I highly recommend it.
A diaper bag will become another daily go-to item. My diaper bags have replaced my purses. I have a few (sweet gifts!) and it’s great because we can have one ready for one car, one for the other- etc. I picked out the pretty pink leather one from Pottery Barn because I loved the color and you can monogram it. But there are SO many diaper bags to choose from. Nordstrom has a fun selection and I love this Honest Company’s City Bag. So chic! I have this bag and love how big it is- fits everything! Because this item becomes Mom’s new handbag, I think a nice one would be an amazing gift!
Another item I’ve been loving is my Lamb Sound Machine. It straps right into the crib fencing and is such an adorable piece of equipment! Part of Charlie’s bedtime routine includes that little lamb and I love how it calms my baby. It’s on sale right now (under $30!).
Pretty soon we’ll be getting ready to transition Charlie out of a swaddle. The most recommended product from all of my mom friends was the Halo Sleepsack. This is because it’s a wearable blanket, safe for your baby, and has plenty of room for his feet to kick. I have yet to try it, but it will be part of our transition as soon as Charlie rolls over. Swaddle version here.
The last baby item I’ll recommend right now is the Kickee Pants Onesie. It has the softest bamboo fabric and comes in so many adorable prints. I have 2 for Charlie (size 3-6 month) but I’ve already been able to fit him in them! They are stretchy so I think they last longer than the 3 month range and YOU WILL LOVE THEM!
Now if you’re looking to get mom something special that isn’t for her baby, I highly recommend having something monogrammed in honor of her child. I personally adore this necklace and ring. (Hi Eric ;)
Nothing relaxes me more than opportunities for ‘spa days’ or time to myself after hours spent alone with my baby. One of the best gifts I think you can give a new mom is time to herself. Whether that’s a day at the spa (go big or go home, right!), or just an opportunity to get out of the house, finding ways to show her you appreciate her is key. Personally, I love bubble baths and cozy days. And my naps (when I can get them in). I’ve been on the hunt for a good sleep mask and found this pretty silk one that comes in a variety of colors and looks so silky soft. Another spa day favorite is a good candle and I love Diptyque! The ultimate gift: a massage and facial at her favorite spa.
One of my goals for 2018 is to start taking care of my skin. Right now I don’t have a great regimen, but I do love my Bobbi Brown eye cream. I haven’t tried Kiehl’s before, but this midnight eye repair cream sounds luxurious. If you’re a skin care junkie, maybe you know the perfect thing to get her for those tired eyes ;) I think the gift of skincare is amazing.
A few other gifts for her? A cozy Patagonia fleece (on my wishlist!) or Mom Life Tank. Because #MomLifeIstheBestLife, yeah?
