Hi Friends! Today’s Gift Guide is all about the Guys! Why are they so hard to shop for? I feel like I always resort to the same gifts every year which usually means putting together a book of photos. It’s not a bad gift at all, but I want to focus on actually getting Eric something he wants this year. So I decided to solicit his help as well as my brother’s to get insight to a variety of items that would be perfect for your guy. I also included a few extra items that I think are fun to buy. Sometimes we just want to dress our man up and give them something we love, right?
ERIC’S PICKS
Mizzen and Main Dress Shirt: Eric and I discovered this brand last year and they are his favorite dress shirts. The material is stretchy and doesn’t wrinkle! As an avid traveler, this is a perfect item to bring on a trip in that tightly packed suitcase! They are a bit pricey but totally worth the investment. Your guy will love them so much, he might add a few to his wardrobe himself!
Cologne: One of the most powerful triggers of memory is scent. Have you ever picked up your guy’s sweatshirt and just snuggled into it because of the smell? It may be tough to figure out what scent he likes most, but Eric recommend YSL and Dolce & Gabbana. Both are on sale at Nordstrom and they have free shipping & returns. Can’t be beat!
Amazon Echo: Eric says guys love their gadgets. And one that he and I recently purchased is the Amazon Echo. We have been playing music non-stop in our house since we got it. This makes a great gift for parents too!
An Old Fashion Kit: You can buy an actual old fashion kit or put one together yourself. Eric recommends getting a bottle of bourbon, bitters, 2 highball glasses, and cherries. Bonus if you get this ice sphere maker!
The other recommendation Eric had was gifting him a BBQ lesson! Maybe you could even plan a date to do a cooking lesson together.
MY BROTHER SAM’S PICKS
Whiskey/Wine Decanter: If you’re a whiskey or wine lover and enjoy hosting, a decanter is a must have! I’m not a whiskey drinker myself, but many guys I know love it and have their own rituals for it. Want to make it special for them? Engrave it. Here’s my favorite wine decanter too.
Small Brew Kit: If you’re guy likes to brew beer at home (or maybe wants to start a new hobby?), here is a great starter kit!
Tailgate Grill: For those sports fans who love to grill out or anyone who loves to go camping!
My repeat gift guide recommendation every year is a pair slippers or moccasins. Slippers are the perfect cozy staple to wear on Christmas morning and all winter long around the house! Turns out I’m not the only one who loves them because this was a gift my brother said he loves receiving.
MY PICKS:
One of my favorite things Eric wears are his pullovers. I think they are so dapper and really elevate his look. I loved this cotton/cashmere mix pullover from Nordstrom and this cozy zip up from Patagonia.
This year I bought matching Christmas pajamas for Eric and me. I’m such a dork but now that we have a little guy, I love doing things as a family! There wasn’t a size available for C but I got him something that will blend right in. Pajamas always make a great simple Christmas gift.
As I mentioned before, I love gifting memories through photos. I often do photo albums but sometimes it’s nice to frame a favorite picture. I’m a huge fan of Mariposa frames. We have so many and they are gorgeous pieces of decor!
Kiel’s Travel Set: We get a lot of mini travel items from the local drug store for our trips but now I’m thinking that getting some products we actually love would be even better! We love to travel and I know Eric likes to travel in style. I spotted this mini Kiel’s kit that’s on sale for under $30!
A YETI cooler is another repeat gift I chose from last year. I have a YETI mug and it really does preserve the temperature of the liquid inside so well. A YETI cooler is a tad pricey, but quite an amazing thing to have, especially if you’re guy does a lot of tailgating/hosting.
Other ideas if you need more: a pair of shoes, gloves (if you live somewhere cold), a massage (my preference is to buy this, not give it myself- ha!), luggage (if you want to go big this year!), a watch (Eric loves his watch), or even his favorite bottle of wine!
