Coffee. Girl Talk. Sister time. What could be better? I’m so happy to have my sister Lili on the blog today sharing some of her fall favorites.
If am truly am an autumn girl, then Lili is absolutely a summer one. She was a beach baby from the get go and has always had a passion for water activities, sunshine, and warm weather. When it comes to summer fashion, she’s sophisticated and cool while I’m vibrant and bright. Though we’ll share a few outfits here and there, we tend to be really different with our summer wardrobes. But when it comes to fall and winter and those cozy pieces, we tend to gravitate towards similar things.
I sat down with my sis to ask her about some of her favorite fall staples.
What’s your favorite thing about fall fashion?
EASY SAUCE. Boots!
What are staple items in your closet?
Versatile jeans, a cozy gray sweater, amazing pair of boots. Boom. Then you have an adorable outfit! I think a dark wash pair of jeans and a gray or black sweater go a long way because they are so versatile. I love to pair those with a statement pair of boots or booties and accenting my outfit that way. I just get sick of clothes so quickly that I hardly go for prints and stick with with the basics and dress things up with shoes. If we’re talking a cozy night in or just lounging around, however, I’d say having a go-to pair of leggings or two is key. I absolutely love Fabletics because of its high quality and the fact that they are so durable.
What’s one thing you repeat every season?
I always repeat my favorite pair of boots – cowboy boots from Allen’s Boots! Although quite the investment, they have definitely paid off. And they’re definitely a statement piece in Chicago! I think they just add a flair to a seemingly simple outfit and play it up without overdoing it.
What’s your favorite place to shop?
Oh I could spend hours in the Nordstrom shoe department. I also love Target if I’m on a tighter budget. Although sometimes that doesn’t really work out when you plan to get one or two things and end up buying a boatload of unnecessary things…. But those are my two definite go-tos.
What are you looking forward to most about Fall this year?
The newest addition to our family of course! I can’t wait to be an aunt and spoil my little nugget! :)
SHOP LILI’S FAVORITES:
I’ll agree with Lo and say that when it comes to fall fashion, simple is key. The more basic you start, the more versatile your wardrobe can go depending on how you match things together. I personally prefer neutral colors for fall that are easy to dress up or down with various items such as scarves, boots, simple jewelry, and coats. My favorite colors are burgundy, cream, gray, and black. I love a festive scarf to throw in the mix and a beautiful coat. The only exception I’ll make is for anything plaid. I’ll wear the same plaid shirt over and over and over again. I can’t get enough. It’s so seasonal and looks fab with some skinny jeans & booties.
Here I’m wearing the softest long cardigan from Leith that looks so great with a simple white tee or tank and jeans. Long cardigans are so in right now and this one will move you nicely into winter as well. I’m also wearing my latest shoe obession: tasseled mules from Sam Edelman (now 50% off!)… They run a half size small so make to to order up. I’m wearing size 9.
As far as what I’m looking forward to most about Fall this year, it’s the same as Lili. I’m so excited to have a little itty baby that I can dress up in super cute boy clothes, snuggle with, and introduce to the world! So soon y’all!
Special thanks to my sister for coming to visit and joining me in for this little fall fashion sesh :)
Ps: if you’re visiting Austin, TOM’s Coffee Shop is a must!
