The sound of crunching leaves beneath my feet. Denim Jackets & Stripes. The reddest of maple leaves falling from the sky. Pumpkin spiced candles & lattes. Ripped jeans. Ankle booties. Pumpkin recipes and fall decor. Apple picking on a crisp afternoon followed by cinnamon donuts. Scarecrows, flannel, and fireside chats. Red wine curled up in a big blanket. Cozy scarves. Layers…

This will be the first Autumn in my entire lifetime where I won’t experience the season at its finest. After moving to Texas, I was fortunate enough to travel back to the midwest or northeast year after year and get a glimpse of my favorite season. But this year it isn’t an option and while it’s for the best of reasons, I will certainly miss that autumnal color that only comes with October in the perfect climate.

This beautiful Austin air has gotten me totally in the fall spirit. I bought a bouquet of sunflowers yesterday and cleaned the entire house, windows open, while taking in the fresh air. September never looks like this here but I’ll celebrate every moment of it while it lasts. I’ve already broken out some staple fall pieces and I’m so stoked about the upcoming season!

This time of year it’s so easy to feel put together and pretty with just a few pieces. I love that a denim jacket or pair of ankle booties can really make an outfit. It’s practically effortless!

Madewell is definitely one of my favorite brands but even more so come Autumn. They have the best sweaters, booties, jeans, and of course, denim jackets. This one is fitted and comes in the most gorgeous blue color. Having a jean jacket in your closet is a staple piece that will last for years to come.

Mine was a bit of a splurge, but totally worth it, especially in the coming months with the amount of use I’ll get out of it. It’s a classic piece and this outfit will transition you from winter to spring as well. Versatility! It never gets old.
