I am so excited to introduce you guys to Petticoat Fair today! Petticoat Fair is an intimate apparel family business located on Northcross Drive in Austin. I was invited to a private shopping event and happy hour a few weeks ago and had an amazing experience getting fitted for the perfect size bra. I was told I would get a free one too! I’m not going to lie, a free bra, snacks, and an opportunity to meet and mingle with some new creative people was enough to sell me on the event. What I didn’t realize is that I would fall in love with Petticoat Fair and their customer service and return the next week to get another bra and learn more about the store.
Petticoat Fair is a local family owned business founded in 1964. They offer swimwear, undergarments, and lingerie that range in size from AA-N in cup size and 30-50 in band size. Kelsey Butler and I met with Kali Andrews, a buyer and fitting specialist, to talk more about their fitting process and take pictures. Kelsey ended up walking out with a new bra too ;)
Each fitting specialist goes through a three month training process before working with clients. They work with women of all body shapes and sizes and women who have had mastectomies, augmentation, or any type of reconstructive surgery. They are a generational business that has served many families in the Austin area for over 50 years! Kali’s grandmother/ a founding partner has fitted women whose daughters and granddaughters have come in and been fitted by Kali. How neat is that?!
From my personal fitting experience, I came to the realization that I have never worn a bra that fits me in my entire life. MY ENTIRE LIFE. Okay my entire bra-wearing life… My boobs have never been happier… (sorry for all your family members reading this… but it’s true!) You know those awkward bra lines you’ll often have with a tight shirt? Yeah those ones that turn up in pictures when you thought you did a good job of hiding them? Ugh the story of my life. With my new Petticoat bra, I bid farewell to those awful lines.
When I walked into the store for the first time, I was a bit confused. I saw tons of gorgeous robes and lingerie, but not many bras. But ladies, do not worry! They do not run short of apparel. In the back, they have an inventory of over 29,000 bras in stock! There are tons of different colors, styles, and sizes to choose from. A fitting stylist will meet with you to discuss your needs and start bringing you products to try on! Once they measure you, they keep your sizes and preferences on file so you can easily pick up another bra on your next visit. If you know your favorite brand and style, you can also order them online. Petticoat Fair offers a bra club where the average price of your first 6 bras bought within one year is discounted toward your 7th. Depending on the price of your bras and that average, the 7th bra might be free! They also offer a bridal registry and will soon be hosting bridal events. Stay tuned :) It’s great for you brides out there and your bachelorette parties!
What I enjoyed most about my experience was the customer service and the feeling of my new bra. For something as personal as bra shopping and being fitted by a stranger, Kali and the team made me feel so comfortable. I suddenly wasn’t nervous at all. I felt at ease and they made me remember that every woman’s body is different. I’ve been so accustomed to picking up $15 bras from Marshalls: ones where I guessed the size based on my first bra I bought… and although they never fit me just quite right, I assumed the problem was my body, not the product. Petticoat Fair taught me that just isn’t true. According to their fact sheet, 85% of women are wearing the wrong size bra! There is a bra that fits every body ladies. You just have to find it!

I highly recommend Petticoat Fair to any woman who wants to look and feel beautiful in their body and wear a comfortable, perfectly fitted, bra! I had an amazing experience and will continue going back to buy more apparel. Thank you Brenda Thompson for inviting me to the initial event! My bra-wearing life has been changed :)
