Hello September! I woke up with a smile on my face this morning purely for the fact that this month marks the start of my favorite season: 21 days to be exact, not that I’m counting or anything… There is a 100% chance I’m sitting in the kitchen enjoying my pumpkin spiced candle. Today is the first day we have our kiddos back in the classroom… Needless to say, I’m feeling pretty giddy.
What I love about September is the same thing I love about January: the feeling of a fresh start. Though I am no longer a student, I always have that feeling in August of a chapter closing. Summer ending. But so much excitement for a new beginning. With September comes fall fashion, football season, Pumpkin Spiced Lattes (word on the street is they are back at Starbucks today!), a shift in the air, and a new routine. Junior League starts up next week and I’m also looking forward to meeting with my (now 3rd grade!) reading buddy Jaslene very soon.
I skipped July monthly highlights because July had so many highlights, all of which you heard about plenty: the 4th in Hilton Head, visiting friends and family in Chicago for a week, and an unforgettable sister trip to Europe. August was a recovery month but still eventful. I spent two weeks exercising, cleaning, getting organized, and just hanging home. I caught up with my coworker Chrissy for a delicious happy hour at Hillside Farmacy. Austinites, they’re half priced oysters & snacks on Monday nights are hard to beat!
I had a chance to visit my bestie Liz in Baltimore for a weekend and visit her stomping grounds. She’s got a new facebook page for Lizzy Loves Letters and a ton of new stuff in her shop :) We had fun snapping pictures for LLL, gallivanting around Baltimore & Annapolis, sipping champagne, talking about life, but mostly hanging out like the old times. It was awesome.
We finished the month in Dayton, Ohio celebrating Eric’s brother Ross’s wedding. We were home for four days and it was great to catch up with family and relax. Eric and I explored Oakwood, a neighboring town, and stopped into a really neat shop called The Little Exchange. I got an amazing Ginger Jar (I’ve been obsessing over these recently) and a beautiful silver picture frame (my favorite). All profits go to a local Children’s Hospital. How neat is that? If you’re ever in Dayton, head on over to Oakwood and check this store out. You won’t be disappointed :)
I hope your kick start to this month is awesome! Can you believe Labor Day is already here? Eric is heading to a bachelor party and I’ll be holding down the fort. I’m excited to see friends and watch college football this weekend :) What are your plans?!
