If you met me 20 years ago, you would never have guessed I’d turn out to be a girl who absolutely loves make up. Back in the day, my style of choice was teal sweatsuits and shark tooth necklaces, matching of course, with my brother. Solidddddd look. I had cropped hair, played ice hockey and baseball, loved climbing trees and building forts, and spent the majority of my time outside. Look how cute we were! I’m the one on the right.
Well hello!
I wore minimal make up in high school and when I went to college, I had an unfortunate brush with dark eye shadows and liner. Woooooof. Goth with a little spray tan action? It took me a while but I finally found my routine. Thank goodness the bare minimum is back in style with make up selection! Neutrals, soft colors, and healthy skin are back in! Okay healthy skin never left, let’s be real. But glazed orange tan? Bye.
Can I get a shoutout for ditching the black eye shadow? I think my parents nearly cried when I came home for Thanksgiving my freshman year.
Today, I have a much different routine. I’ve got a look I like for the day and a look for going out. Sometimes it is fun to wear no make up at all. It’s so healthy for your skin.
In the morning, I use Cetaphil on my face. I am in the market for a daily moisturizer with SPF, so if you have one you love, send your recommendation my way please! I love the feeling of moisturizer on my face. My skin feels refreshed before I apply my foundation.
I ordered Lancome foundation at Christmas and I am in love with it! It blends perfectly with my skin and creates a blemish free look. Lancome offers various tints for different skin tones. I highly recommend you check them out! Plus, it contains SPF. It is so important to have a foundation that has sunscreen in it! We need to protect our skin from that sun which we are exposed to when we don’t even realize it.
My absolute favorite product is my concealer from Clinique. It can be used as a foundation as well but I prefer to keep it under my eyes. It really makes my face feel blemish free and smooth. Plus it gives it a little bronze.
Have you tried Urban Decay? I love the neutral shadows that blend so well together. During the day, I like to keep it light and mix it with a little honey and gold. At night, I’ll go for some of the darker colors (NOT BLACK!) just to give my eye a little more pop.
NARS is my favorite bronzing product. I brush a little bit of this on my cheeks and it’s perfect for giving your face a little more color. NARS has shades for everyone. It also lasts for a long time.
When it comes to mascara, I use drugstore brands and it seems to work for me. My lashes aren’t short but they definitely aren’t long and sometimes I apply a few layers to give it a longer looking effect. My sister loves Bobbi Brown and I tried a sample but was too lazy to go out and buy the real thing. Sometimes spending $30 on a product like that isn’t worth it to me. Especially when I can get something that works just fine for $7. What do you think? What is your favorite mascara?
For weddings and any occasion where I want a little pop to my ensemble, I love to wear a bright lip. Reds are usually my go to during the winter, but I love these pink shades from NARS and Mac Cosmetics.
As always, it is important to remove your make up and wash your face before bed. It is necessary for keeping that skin healthy and fresh! I’ve linked some of these makeup favorites below for you. What are your favorite products?
