Hi Guys! I’m currently reading The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty and find myself unable to put it down. But I guess I’m not surprised as I have felt that way with all of her stories. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite authors with you because there aren’t many things I enjoy more than curling up with a book I can’t put down. Once I find an author whose writing style and voice I love, I get so excited for their next book release.
Lately, I haven’t been reading as much as I would like to. I’ve been caught up with the holidays and writing and getting things done. With the New Year, I’ve found a little more time. And I’m excited to keep discovering new reads. If you read my last post on book recommendations, you know I read quite a variety last year.
Here are just a few of my favorite authors to date… And I am always looking for more favorites, so please comment if you have a book or author you love! :)
Emily Giffin– Oh Emily Giffin. I can’t get enough of her writing style & stories. She has a strong feminine voice and very well-developed characters. You get to know them so quickly and their voices are so real. Giffin engages her readers immediately and gosh- you hop right into these characters’ shoes- they are so relatable! My favorite book of hers is Love the One You’re With. But she has quite a few books out! Check out her website and read an interview with her on The Every Girl :) These books are perfect plane ride, lunch break, or beach reads. I can’t wait until she releases another one.
Liane Moriarty– Liane is a newfound favorite author of mine. The first of her’s I read was The Husband’s Secret and I was immediately drawn to her writing style. She is the first writer I’ve read from Australia and her stories have given me so much interest in that country and part of the world. I feel like I never hear about it! Maybe someday I’ll be lucky enough to travel there. Each of Liane’s stories is a mystery. And like Emily Giffin, her characters are very well-developed and fascinating. Her books are page turners for sure. I’ve read quite a few and am making my way through them, but my favorite so far has been Big Little Lies. What Alice Forgot comes in a close second. Jo Nesbo– If you enjoyed The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series, you will love reading Jo Nesbo’s work. He’s an author from Norway who writes crime novels, many of them starring Harry Hole (pronounced WHOLE-AYYY). He is one of the leading crime writers and you get a glimpse into the dark, terrifying world of crime in various parts of Europe. I actually met Jo Nesbo while he was in Chicago doing a book tour on his novel Police. He was incredibly funny and has had quite the career history. From football to the military to a rock band, he had quite the array of jobs before he became an author. He’s been to many places in the world and started writing his first Harry Hole novel while in Australia. Read more about Nesbo here.
J.K. Rowling– Need I really go into depth on this one? If you know me, I’m a Harry Potter aficionado. OB-sessed. Just saw Potted Potter in Chicago and it was AWESOME. J.K. Rowling is on the the most renowned writers of our generation and I love that she created these thrilling and lovable characters in a totally magical world for all of her readers. I have not branched outside of Harry Potter in terms of her books, but I am completely satisfied by that series :)
Follow me on Goodreads! I’d love your recommendations :)
