Does anyone else have a deep love for wine? Over the past few years, Eric and I have developed a passion for it. Specifically red wines. We’re even hosting a wine tasting in a couple of weeks. We visited Napa in the fall of 2011 and are heading back with friends this upcoming March. Since that trip, Franzia & 2 buck chucks no longer cut it. We love our big reds and our pinot noir.
Upon moving to Austin, we discovered we live in Hill Country and there are tons of wineries nearby. Visiting wineries has become a favorite weekend activity, especially when we have guests in town.
One of my favorite wineries is Duchman Family Winery. I love their montepulciano. They offer flights for $10 and you get to sample 5 different wines. You have an option to do a flight of red or a flight of white. They also have a beautiful building with lots of light and cool decor. Many weddings take place here. If you check out their site, you’ll see how gorgeous it is. Located next door to an italian restaurant called Trattoria Lisina, you also have a great access to delicious food after your tasting.
If you’re new to Austin and are dying to try some fabulous bbq, Duchman Family Winery is only about 10 minutes from the famous Salt Lick. It’s my favorite BBQ in Austin & the surrounding area.
I highly recommend visiting wineries if you’re planning a bachelorette party or have guests in town. Or if you just want a little date night. This is an experience you can’t get everywhere and I absolutely love that we have this in Austin :)
Fredericksburg is a town that is only and hour and a half from Austin but has quite a plethora of wineries. That’s next up on the bucket list! We’ve heard so many good things.
E & I are back in Chicago and excited to catch up with friends. I hope you have a great weekend :)
