Fall Fads: Pumpkin Spiced Everything + Plaids, Demins, and Flannel// Welcome back!

10.01.2015

It’s October 1st. The first day of my favorite month of the entire year. The cool crisp mornings and excuse to wear sweaters is only a drop in the bucket of the awe and wonder of the fall season. Pumpkin spiced everything, sunflowers at the farmer’s market, the array of color in the trees as the leaves change- I can’t pick a favorite moment. I love the smell of a campfire and the scent of a spiced candle. I love the countdown to Halloween and the crunching of leaves under my boots as I meander home.

It’s our first official fall season as newcomers to Austin. We were here last year but missed most of October due to our wedding and honeymoon, so I don’t think it counts. We got to experience the cooler weather and changing temperatures while traveling in Europe, and this will be the first time we see how October pans out in Austin. We have been told to not get too excited. It’s still hot here. And although I know I’ll miss the vast colors of bright maples and oaks, I’ll savor the short weekend in November when the leaves wilt into reds and browns here in Texas. And I’ll document thoroughly ;)

Eric and I used to blast Frank Sinatra as we drove down Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. We felt like old timers in a big city. And we’d dine at fun restaurant, drink red wine, and plan the future. I loved it.

But one thing that never changes, no matter where I’m located, is my love for the flannels, booties, hats, and jeans that define fall fashion.

Welcome back denim, flannels, and plaid! I cannot get enough of you. I find myself purchasing more with each returning season and I still have not tired from the trend. I love being warm and cozy (and cute) and these shirts offer an opportunity for all.

I have bought my shirts from many different places. I love the flannels at Nordstrom. I have also made purchases at J Crew & Loft. And also Urban Outfitters. I recently stumbled into Evereve, formally “Hot Mama” and am bumming hard that there isn’t one located in Austin. I loved everything in the store. It’s probably a good thing- I can see myself venturing in there on too regular of a basis come Autumn season… Can’t help myself.

So here I am, sitting in the AC  in my red flannel and reminiscing of past falls, pandora playing in the background as I admire my pumpkin spiced candle. Cuddled up in my little world until the outside one follows suit ;)

So excited for pumpkin season! That’s all for now.FullSizeRender (4)
