I hope you are all having a good week! Eric is still in Chicago and staying with my family. I’m excited for him to return tonight! :) He has quite a bit of work to do with the new Chicago office opening up. This is the first time he has started traveling regularly for work, so it’s going to be a huge change for us. Luckily, I have had plenty to do these last few days with my job, writing, and catching up on every day life. Silver linings, yes. I’m excited for us to be here this weekend with not much to do. It will be great to unwind and discuss our goals for 2016.
Today I am sharing a sweater dress I have been wearing that has been my favorite winter find! I have worn it repeatedly and it’s soft lining has kept me super warm. What I love about this dress is that it is so versatile. You can wear it to the Office, to Church, to a House Party, to a Date Night Out– it is fabulous for many occasions. Honestly, it’s so comfortable that it could be worn lounging around the house or running errands (although you may look a little dressy ;) ). Whateva evaaaa.
Click below for details on where you can buy this dress and make it yours! I’m wearing a size small. Enjoy!

Good Morning! Happy Christmas Week too :) I’m currently listening to Bing Crosby and sipping coffee in my favorite mug. I cannot believe Christmas is already here. We JUST finished up our shopping yesterday. I’m not a procrastinator like my lovely betrothed, but if my extremely thoughtful husband says he wants to take care of certain gifts, better late than never it is. He’ll always think of the perfect present. So naturally, we’re wrapping things up (no pun intended) last minute.
Today I am sharing a look from a shoot I did last week with my new friend and fellow photographer Kelsey Butler (link at end of post). She is such a sweetheart and it’s been pretty neat meeting people in Austin through Instagram. I know, crazy world, right? The power of the #hashtag you guys….
If you’re like me, you love when you find ‘your color’…. As a dirty blonde hazel-eyed gal, that color happens to be olive… along with browns and greens and colors that bring out my eyes… I recently attended a fashion event a Mayastar Austin and found the olive top and scarf listed above. And I feel like I’ve lived in this ensemble ever since. Especially the scarf that goes with everything. With the warmer weather in Austin, I feel like it is totally acceptable to wear white pants in winter. Especially with boots. I love it, especially since it is hard to wear white pants during the normal season of summer because it is so freaking hot here. I’ve already started contemplating HOW I am going to do fashion shoots and posts this summer when I normally live in spandex shorts & a sports bra…. and in the air conditioning… We’ll cross that bridge when we get there…
As a photographer myself, I always ask my subjects to bring at least one shirt, scarf, piece of jewelry- anything, that could possibly bring out their eye color… It creates such a fresh and vibrant look. I love it.
I’ve already packed my suitcase and you can bet that green infinity scarf is in my bag. Along with some other gems I’ll be sharing in the next couple of weeks :)
I hope you have a wonderful and short Holiday Week!

Does anyone else share the same obsession I have for candles? When my Aunt was in town a few weeks ago, I kept taking the tops of my candles, getting a quick scent, and smiling as I placed them back in their appropriate shelving areas….
I. cannot. Get. Enoughhhhh. of. Candles.
Scent is a powerful trigger of memory. I associate many memories with certain scents as many of you do too, possibly without realizing it. Have you ever walked into a room feeling like you’ve been there before or suddenly are overcome with an odd memory from your past? Scent can often do that to you.
Pumpkin spiced candles obviously remind me of fall & autumn traditions. And I can’t get enough of the pine scented candles or cinnamon ones at Christmas time. I love the smell of Aloha Orchid and memories of girls nights in Chicago & lots of vino.
My favorite seasonal candle for Christmas time is the Birchwood Pine scent from Nest. We bought a bigger one last year and I didn’t even want to light it because I was afraid of burning through it too quickly (Eric and I light our candles so often that we go through them quite fast). You might tell me there is not point in having something you don’t use, but let me inform you that I don’t need to light a candle to get good use out of it. At least not the Birchwood Pine. I hid it in our sideboard last year and every time I opened that cabinet to grab something, I was overwhelmed by the joyous memories of Christmas through that glorious scent.
And okay, it’s November and tis’ the Season, so we’re burning through it now. It’s being used for its intended purpose! But man. That powerful, beautiful, festive smell makes me so blissful.
And candles are such a beautiful form of decoration for the home! Ah- multi use. Who doesn’t like that?
Eric and I got busy with our Christmas decor last night. I can’t wait to show you next week what they look like ;) And we bought some more candles. WHAT?!
I hope you are enjoying your short week!
