Another lovely weekend has come and gone. Eric and I dressed up for Halloween party as Batman and Wonder Woman and had a blast getting out with friends. We dressed Charlie as Superman but he wasn’t too thrilled about it. I’m going to try to put him in it again tomorrow and see if we have some better luck. I might even take him out in the stroller and walk around the neighborhood with some trick or treaters. A holiday’s a holiday and I love to celebrate!
I don’t want to get totally ahead of myself, but I’ve already been thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. Don’t worry, I haven’t turned on the Xmas tunes quite yet (but don’t be surprised if I do soon!). It’s hard not to look forward to all the excitement at this time of year when there are so many parties and activities happening, and all the stores are already decked out in festive decor. Even the weather is finally cooling down! I’m even more excited for the holidays now that Charlie is here.
Growing up, we always went over to my uncle’s house for Thanksgiving. It was one of my favorite holiday traditions because there would be a huge group of people together, tons of delicious food, and occasionally, cool enough weather to ice skate. We’d sip beers and schnapps and someone would always give a toast or prayer before dinner. In later years, the night would end with an epic dance party to Billy Joel’s Piano Man. We always went big with our celebrations.
Besides the delicious food and merriment to look forward to, I could always count on a few of my gorgeous and fashionable cousins to be dressed in the most trendy outfits. My sisters and I would joke that no matter how hard we tried to look fabulous, the Solbergs would always look better. We were a bit envious, but at the end of the day, totally inspired.
Ever since then, I have loved dressing up for the holidays. And a sweater dress is the perfect attire for a cozy festive look. Just pair it with over the knee boots and you’ve got one gorgeous (and leggy!) look.
I absolutely love sweater dresses and wear them often during fall and winter. They are so easy to mix and match with different accessories and are appropriate for a variety of occasions. They are also perfect for Christmas parties! I just recently picked up another one from J Crew that I’ll be wearing in an upcoming holiday post. I can’t wait to show you!
I hope you all have a fantastic week!
