I received a gift for Christmas that has played a role in my daily routine and has uplifted me when I’ve been in a funk. My mom gave me a 365 calendar of quotes from my church back home so that every morning, I can flip the page and enjoy a new one. I’ve had them over the years but never used them. I’m not sure what made it more important for me to try now but maybe I’m feeling this new sense of adulthood at 29. I love having this book of quotes right on my bedside table and I look forward to flipping them every morning.
As a teenager I had a whole notebook of quotes. You know, the one covered in collage pictures with tons of notes about life and sad lyrics. Oh teenage angst… But there were many strong, inspiring, and moving ones as well (mostly from Maya Angelou) and I miss that notebook.
I thought I’d share some quotes with you because some of them are so simple but send a powerful message. Others are silly and many are obvious. Each makes me pause.
“Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Just because some people are fueled by drama, doesn’t mean you have to attend the performance” -Cheryl Richardson
“We all have our time machines, don’t we? Those that take us back are memories… and those that carry us forward are dreams” -H.G. Wells
“My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me” -Henry Ford
“To love someone deeply gives you strength. Being loved by someone deeply gives you courage” -Lao Tzu
“Vitality shows not only in the ability to persist but in the ability to start over” -F. Scott Fitzgerald
“I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality” -Martin Luther King, Jr.
Alright, that’s enough for now. I could continue on all day. I know The Autumn Girl has become more of a fashion blog, but I do like to interweave stories, moments, and musings that are important to me. While fashion is challenging and fun, connecting with people is my ultimate goal.
I do have to tell you a little bit about this blue dress before we go though. It’s from Goodnight Macaroon, an online boutique that has a flash sale very Tuesday-Thursday. I got this dress there for 50% off (worth it) and I’m wearing a size small for reference. I love the Bohemian print and wish I had it last summer in Italy. It screams vacation. Every week, be sure to check into Goodnight Macaroon to see what products might be on sale! This is on sale now (not quite 50% off) but most likely will be included in the flash sale again.
My lace up sandals are my favorite to date. They are so perfect for transitioning seasons and I can wear them pretty much all year in Texas. I’ve worn them in many photoshoots, as you might have noticed. I saw a blogger wearing them a year ago and when I went to buy them, they were sold out. Luckily, they were restocked last fall and I bought them immediately. They are nearly sold out again but Lord & Taylor has a few sizes left for an unbelievable price: $39. Just add the item to your cart and the new price will show. I’m wearing a size 8.5 for reference and they fit true to size. If your size is sold out, don’t be too discouraged. Hopefully they will return next year again because they are so popular.
I hope you are enjoying your week friends. If there is anything in particular that you’d love to see more of on The Autumn Girl, please comment below :) I love feedback.
Thank you for reading!
