I don’t know about you, but I certainly struggle with my hair. It’s extremely thin and I don’t have a lot of it. I dye it regularly (I can’t help how much I love to change it) and that doesn’t help with its dryness. But I rarely blow dry it and make sure I’m using products that work well with my hair type.
I feel like most girls envy another girl’s hair once in her life. Have you ever said aloud, “Ugh I hate my hair…” I have! Well I’m telling you to STOP. Because we all have different hair that makes us beautiful & unique. So find something that works for YOUR hair. YOUR look. And embrace it!
I’m sure you’ve been the victim of a hair stylist’s sales technique- they finish styling your hair and make you look glamorous and recommend you buy some of their products so you can do it yourself at home. And it NEVER looks the same, does it? Grrrrrr. I’ve learned to say, “I’m fine on products!” every time an offer is made. Unless they use something that truly effects my hair and it’s on sale (because let’s be real- are their offers ever really that affordable?), I won’t buy it. Over the years through trial and error, I have figured out on my own great products that work for me.
I use Redken color extend shampoo & conditioner and when I run out, I use Tresemme. I think its a great inexpensive shampoo and keeps your hair from getting greasy too easily. Lately, I haven’t been using conditioner because I discovered THE BEST PRODUCT EVER- Miracle 10- a leave in Keratin product. I towel dry my hair after I get out of the shower and spray this stuff in my hair and my brush combs right through it. Detangles instantly. AMAZING. Plus it leaves my hair shiny and soft. I’m obsessed. I really am… It’s the first time I’ve felt a salon product actually makes a difference… so there you have it. I buy mine on Amazon!
If I’m going to go out or dress up, I’ll put a little more effort into my hair. I got this Bumble & Bumble oil a few years ago when it was discounted and it works really well for frizzy hair or to keep those fly aways down. Two drops into your damp hair and comb it through with your fingers. One drop after your hair is dry. I’ll blow dry my hair after I’ve let it air dry for at least 20 minutes and then I’ll use the wand if I want to wave my hair and glam it up.
The other Bumble & Bumble product I love is the thickening hairspray. Just two or three sprays of that before you blowdry and voila, your hair looks and feels better! (I also love using Tresemme hairspray if I want my hair to hold a curl)…
You’ll notice I included coconut oil in this little hair regime. If you read my post on beauty products, you’ll see I included coconut oil for a facial product as well. Coconut Oil is AMAZING. I love how the packaging will note the different uses ‘for cooking’…’for hair’…’for skin’….What?! I put coconut oil on my face. I put it in my damp hair. I rub it on my legs. And yes, I cook with it. Such a great product.
I didn’t include a picture of this, but I highly recommend using a round brush when you blow dry your hair. It’s just the best for giving your hair volume. When brushing you hair, always start with combing out the bottom so that your ends are detangled before combing the top.
I hope you find these tips helpful today! It took me forever to find a routine that works for me. And I love it :)
Happy Monday! (Happy MLK Day too). Cheers!
